Knowing the difference between centrifugal and positive displacement pumps?

The main difference between centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps is how they move fluids.

Centrifugal pumps work with the centrifugal force of the rotor turns to push the fluid. Therefore, this causes a change in the pressure when the rate of the flow changes. The variation in the pressure will decrease the efficiency of these pumps.

Positive displacement pumps work by drawing fluid into an inlet valve, then moving it to an outlet for discharge. Therefore, the rate of flow will remain constant throughout the change in pressure. With these pumps, efficiency is not affected by variation in the pressure.

The positive displacement pump will continue to move fluid at the same speed regardless of the pressure of the inlet valve. Whereas the centrifugal pumps will not.
